Sally Beamish has been awarded the Walter Wilson Cobbett Medal of The Musicians’ Company in recognition of her services to chamber music in a ceremony at Barber-Surgeons’ Hall. Previous awardees of the medal include William Walton, Peter Maxwell Davies, Yehudi Menuhin, Sidney Griller and Nona Liddell.
The Musicians’ Company is the only City of London Livery Company dedicated to the performing arts. They nurture talent and share music through their concerts, outreach, awards and young artists’ programme. In 1924, Walter Cobbett established an endowment to enable the Worshipful Company of Musicians to present the medal annually to a distinguished musician for services to chamber music.
